San Francisco Ballet in Dawson's Anima Animus

Program 02

Looking for poetry, drama, and extreme virtuoso dancing? Helgi Tomasson’s 7 for Eight, a lyrical, neoclassical work for eight dancers set to four Bach keyboard concertos, incorporates sensual adagio, exuberant allegro, and everything in between. Mark Morris, known for his musical and expansive choreography, returns to SF Ballet to create his 14th work for the Company. David Dawson’s Anima Animus is ballet pushed to every extreme: technique stretched to its outer limit and physically emotional virtuosity.

The 2004 world premiere of 7 for Eight was made possible by Mr. Thomas J. Perkins and The Edward E. Hills Fund.

The 2018 world premiere of Anima Animus was made possible by Unbound Festival Presenting Sponsor Diane B. Wilsey and Grand Benefactor Sponsor Yurie and Carl Pascarella.
