Sofiane Sylve trained at Académie de Danse in Nice, France and went on to dance with Germany’s Stadttheater, Dutch National Ballet, and New York City Ballet before joining SF Ballet as a principal dancer in 2008. Her repertory includes principal roles in Helgi Tomasson’s Giselle, Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet, and Swan Lake, Tomasson/Possokhov’s Don Quixote, and George Balanchine’s Coppélia. Sylve has originated roles in ballets by David Dawson, William Forsythe, Edward Liang, Wayne McGregor, Alexei Ratmansky, Liam Scarlett, and Christopher Wheeldon, among others.

She is a principal guest faculty member at SF Ballet School.
